| About This Story Two months ago , as of November 30th 2009 I met Emanuel online. I hired Emmanuel to sing a song for us. I was initially looking for a female to sing the song for a sample on our web pages. Emmanuel was diligently looking for work on a site we recently started using for getting small jobs we need to help our site become more clear in what we are doing and where we are going with it. I am not sure if Emmanuel was the first person we hired for that job. Not sure if it was his first job but I think it was . His first job on this site. I didn't realize initially that Emmanuel's stableness of his life was so critical. It just was funny to me that he was applying for a job as a male when I was advertising for a female. Everyone working around the world uses skype to communicate with so I downloaded skype and went to chat with Emanuel about what I was looking for in this song. I have always been curios about everything and I was wondering what was going on in his life , thinking here we have a guy that is wanting some spending money. |
| Emmanuel wasn't using his story to get work , he was looking to get work and less than a week or so before I was chatting with him his life was pretty stable. He formerly worked out of their house sewing for local companies in the area. His mother did the sewing as I understand and with their commercial sewing machines and large bundles of fabric they were making a living. They were making dress shirts for kids for a local company. Typhoon Ondoy hit and the mud and the flood took their car, their sewing machines, and probably many other things we so value in life. I think that is a picture of their computers trashed out back, all their fabric was ruined. I'm surprise their house was still standing after the water was up to the second floor. So I was bless to meet Emmanuel online. After chatting a while in the text forum of skype I realized Emanuel was trying to work day and night. When I got up at 3 am he was online working when I went to bed he was online working, I asked him once, something like " Do you sleep"? They are 11 hours ahead of us in the Philippines as compared to USA. In our initial conversations Emmanuel said this : " really? how? because you see.. i really need a lot of work and money right now. because we are affected by the typhoon ondoy. my family and i lost our car and our business because of the flash flood. " Emmanuel was on the other side of the world, and I was so moved, I personally couldn't help much, with 6 kids at home myself but he has never left my thoughts now for over 2 months. I created this site in hopes that others would pitch in but I'm not sure if the paypal has been much help. I asked Emmanuel in our conversation if he was a Christian. He said yes. Later he asked me if not only I was a Christian but if I was a born again, saved Christian. I said yes. I thought wow here is a person from the Philippines checking to see where my heart really was with the Bible. I'm not sure if Emmanuel has his car out of the shop yet or not. But I do know his hard work is paying off for him in the workforce online and he is shooting video commercials , and doing a ton of projects helping support his Mom, sister, aunt and his household.
